Former Home Secretary David Blunkett will be visiting the University of Bedfordshire on Thursday as part of a new series of public policy lectures.
The Labour MP for Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough will be examining recent education policies and current government changes.
He will be looking at the contradictions and challenges this throws up in his lecture Education for All: the contradictions and challenges of present and future policy at 11am.
In the last Labour Government Mr Blunkett was the Education and Employment Secretary before becoming the Home Secretary and then the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions.
He is also the founder of the charity Future for Youth which seeks to get funding from public bodies and business to provide opportunities for unemployed youth.
The public policy lecture series is the brain child of Vice-chancellor Bill Rammell who last year told our sister paper the Luton on Sunday he planned to use his political connections to initiate such a programme.
John Bercow, the Speaker of the House of Commons, will be giving the next lecture on Thursday, May 9.
