GCSE'S: Record-breaking students open their results at the Barnfield Academies

IT was another record-breaking year for the Barnfield Academies as super students opened their much-coveted GCSE results this morning.

Barnfield celebrated a 21% increase in student success rate overall at South and West Academies.

Barnfield South Academy saw 78% of students achieve 5 A* - C grades including English and Maths – an astounding increase on last year and the highest ever results for the Rotheram Avenue school.

99% of students scored 5 A* - Cs without English & Maths.

Ayesha Karimullah was literally jumping up and down with excitement after opening her brown envelope to reveal 14 A* and A grades. She said: “I’m so pleased and I’m so excited!”

And Anisa Kayani was already looking forward to starting her A-Level studies in September after discovering her 3 A*s, 8 As and 2 B grades. She said: “Now my mind is focussing on AS Levels. I’m doing Chemistry, Biology, Maths and History. I’m just glad all my hard work has paid off so far.”

Ibrahim Muhammed earned 16 A* - C grades – 12 of which were A*s and As.

At Barnfield West Academy, 100% of students accomplished 5 A*-C grades overall, with 68% netting 5 A* - C with English and Maths.

Head Boy Imani Lewis-Simmons led the success stories with 1 A*, 8 As and 1 B. He said: “I’m really surprised but ecstatic. I didn’t think I would be getting all As and just 1 B. It’s been brilliant at Barnfield. I wouldn’t have changed anything.”

Imani will now study History, English Literature, Philosophy and Government & Politics at Barnfield Sixth Form.

And Head Girl Lucy-Jane Ling was delighted with her 4 A grades, 3 Bs and 5 Cs, saying: “I’m really really really pleased! It is such a relief!”

Miles Thompson’s hard work earned him one A*, 6 As and 4 Bs. He said: “I feel really good, I’m glad the hard work all paid off in the end. The support Barnfield give you is the reason why I was able to get the grades that I got.”

Miles will now study A-Levels in Music, Biology, History and English Literature at Barnfield Sixth Form.

Barnfield Skills Academy also reported some excellent vocational results as well as 100% of students achieving 5 A*- C grades overall.

High flyer Jakub Majchrzak celebrated a storming set of results with 15 A*-C grades including English and Maths at GCSE as well as a B grade in A-Level Polish.

Jakub also achieved a BTEC Extended Certificate in Construction and the Built Environment during day release at Barnfield College.
