ROTARY clubs in Luton have announced that they are seeking planning approval to design and build a modern bandstand in Wardown Park in Luton

At an event on Sunday February, 23, at The Pavilion, Bowling Green Lane in Luton, full details for the ‘Rotary Bandstand’ will be presented to leaders of the community, educational establishments and local authority, highlighting the design competition for schools, colleges and the university.

The Rotary Youth Trust is looking for the concept of a building for the 21st Century and one that will fit in with the surroundings of the park.

Rotarian Alan Corkhill, chair of the Rotary Steering Committee, said: “We are looking to excite the young people of Luton to take full advantage of this park and its surroundings.

“The Trust has allocated major financial prizes for winners and their educational establishment.”

The winning concepts will be incorporated in the final design which will be prepared by architects.

The final building will be used for music, exhibitions and theatre productions.
