Two care homes in Bedford have been rated as  top Bupa care homes in the UK by their residents.

Puttenhoe Residential Home and Highfield Reseidential Home saw 100% of residents rate the overall quality care as excellent or very good.

The votes were based on the range of activities on offer, how personal food choices are catered for, feedback on staff and opinions of the residents’ rooms, buildings and grounds.

A further 98% of residents also felt that they are treated with dignity and respect and 97% felt safe and secure within the care home.

Linda Cornfoot, Home Manager at Puttenhoe Residential Home, said: “We are so pleased to receive such feedback and to hear that our residents are happy with the standards and level of care in the home.

“We have such a great team of dedicated, hard-working staff here, who always try and go above and beyond, but at the end of the day, none of that would matter unless it’s making a difference to the people that count.”

The independent survey was carried out in Bupa’s 300 care homes across the UK and this is the ninth year running that Bupa has seen an improvement in overall customer satisfaction.

Bupa has seen continuing improvements since the introduction of its Personal Best programme. This initiative encourages staff to develop their skills and deliver personalised care tailored to individual residents.

Bupa’s customer service director, Tracey Fletcher, said: “Choosing the right care home is such an important decision, so this survey is a great way for the community to learn more about their local care home, and more importantly, hear the opinions of the residents who have made both Puttenhoe and Highfield their home.”
