A competition organised by Luton Airport to take the Love Luton T-shirt to foreign climes has captured public imagination, and early entries show photos of the garment being worn from Bordeaux to Budapest.
The competition closed yesterday and fans of Luton Airport’s Facebook page will choose their favourites.
Visit www.facebook.com/londonlutonairport to have your say and then an independent judging panel will take the shortlist and select a winner to claim a £500 voucher from Love2Travel.
Luton’s city status bid was launched last July in Westminster to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012 and will be officially handed in to Downing Street at the end of this month.
Glyn Jones, chairman of the Love Luton city status bid, said: “It is now only four weeks until the bid is submitted to Government, and if Luton were to achieve city status it could really help to change the perceptions of how some people outside Luton view us. We all know Luton as a great place to live, work and play.
“Ours is a vibrant, multi-cultural town with a warm heart that has welcomed generations of new people who have made their home here.
“Being a city would bring Luton lots of kudos, and more than that it would deliver high-quality jobs and investment.” A decision on whether Luton wins its bid is expected in February next year.
