Hot off his return from Australia with the winning England team, Luton-born cricketer Monty Panesar picked up a belated award.
The sports star won the recognition in the prestigious Luton on Sunday-supported Luton’s Best Awards last month.
Monty picked up the Think Luton Think Success gong in recognition of his achievements and work promoting the town as one to be proud of.
He was unable to collect it at the time of the ceremony as he was Down Under with the Ashes-winning England cricket team.
But he was finally presented with his award at the Love Luton City Status Bid event at Luton Hoo on Wednesday.
He said: “I’m very proud to get this award. As someone who was born in Luton & Dunstable Hospital and went to school here, it is a great achievement.”
Organised by the Luton Forum, Luton’s Best Awards 2010 recognised the unsung heroes and achievers in the town.
