Elderly man dies after collision

An elderly man has died after being hit by a car outside Luton and Dunstable Hospital.
 
The 80-year-old man was hit by a green Ford Focus yesterday (August 31) which was travelling along Dunstable Road, Luton towards Dunstable when it hit the man by the junction with Lewsey Road.

The man was taken to the hospital but later died.
 
The driver of the car, a 19-year-old man from Dunstable, was arrested in relation to the incident and subsequently released on police bail.

The officer in charge of the investigation, PC Terry Nesbitt, is appealing for any witnesses to the collision to contact him.
 
He would also like to hear from anybody who saw the Ford Focus being driven along Dunstable Road, Luton, or elsewhere, immediately before the incident.
