Detectives in Luton are investigating the robbery which occurred at the store in Chaul End Lane at about 11.05am.
At that time, three men entered the store with one of them threatening a member of staff with what has been described as a ‘Taser device’.
The employee was taken into a back room and forced to hand over a large amount of stock including mobile phones and an undisclosed amount of money before the robbers left via a side fire exit.
Shortly after that, three men were seen to get into a white estate car which may have already contained a male driver. The vehicle was driven off towards Kings Way.
Just prior to the robbery, two large bags had been left unattended on the ground outside the store.
At this time, descriptions of the offenders are vague. It is believed there were two black males and one white male, and possibly an Asian male as well.
One was wearing a black hoody and another was wearing a red/orange top.
The investigating officer, DC Jon Wheeler, said: “This was a frightening experience for the member of staff. He was threatened with some form of electric device, possibly a Taser gun.
"I am appealing to anybody who may have seen men waiting around outside the Carphone Warehouse at approximately 11.00am Monday, to contact me.”
If you feel you can help with the investigation, were in the area at the relevant time, or you saw the two bags being placed outside the Carphone Warehouse, please contact DC Wheeler in confidence, on 01582 394334, or text information to 07786 200011, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
