ST NEOTS TOWN 5 BARTON ROVERS 3
Evo-Stik Division One Central
Barton Rovers lost out in an eight-goal thriller at the home of promotion chasers St Neots Town as the hosts ended their four game unbeaten run and stretched their own to seven matches.
Two goals apiece for Stefan Moore and Ben Mackey, plus one Dan Jacob did for Rovers and made Ricky Case's double either side of a Paul Andrews strike count for little.
The sides exchanged chances early on before Shane Tolley set up the opening goal for Moore as.
Barton had an effort cleared off the line while Moore should have added to his tally.
Rovers started the second half strongly and they evened things up on 50 minutes with Niran Vaughan setting up Case.
However, they had barely finished celebrating when Jacob put the hosts back in front.
Visiting keeper Richard Wilmot prevented the goalscorer from netting a quickfire brace minites later but as Barton tried to clear their lines Adrian Sear was fouled and a penalty awarded, which Moore made sure of from the spot.
Then five minutes after his introduction, Saints substitute Mackey netted twice to put Rovers 5-1 behind.
Andrews pulled one back with 16 minutes remaining and Case struck for his second in the closing moments but it was too little, too late for the visitors.
