What's the Alternative

And come to think of it, IS there an alternative? Oh, yes, there most definitely is as around 20,000 home educated children will tell you. And then there are the schools where league tables and tests are far less important than encouraging children to think for themselves – even if that means they decide not to go to lessons at all.

Schools, like children, come in all shapes and sizes but mostly they conform to the norm – lessons, playtime, after-school activities and so on and so forth.

What is right for one child might be misery for another so although there is no bunking off lessons altogether, when it comes to making a decision about the education of your child, there is more choice out there than you might imagine. It’s not all reading, ‘riting and ‘rithmetic.
