Hen nights and stag dos - and don'ts!

hen partyAre you up for a great girls' night out or a bad lads' weekend away? Those pre-marriage rites of passage are mega-business - `not least in the false bunny ears and fake ball and chain markets.

If only half of all brides and grooms-to-be go on a hen night or stag do, and they take with them on average 10 people, then it's clear that the market is worth many millions of pounds. But does the very thought of a hen night or a stag do fill you with fear?

stag partyIt's not just the thought of donning bunny ears and false breasts (girls) or being handcuffed, naked, to the railings (boys) - or even worse, the other way round. It's how much it's all going to cost you.

Even a one night celebration, once you've included drinks, food, club entry fees and taxis, can leave a big gaping hole in your pocket; if the idea is to go abroad for an extended knees up, the cost can become exorbitant. And you've still got a wedding present to buy and all the costs associated with being a guest!

But let's not be a complete misery-guts about this. Hundreds of thousands of people are having a lot of fun at hen nights and stag dos every weekend of the year - and it doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg. Neither do you have to wear 'L' plates round your neck, get arrested for being p****d in Prague or argue over who eat what in a restaurant.
