Louisa and Raf proposal
Rafal Kuczynski, her boyfriend of four years, is a chef so romantic suppers with good food weren’t totally out of the ordinary. “He’s done it before” says Louisa “so I didn’t think anything of it. He’d cooked salmon, which was delicious and then after dinner he asked me if I wanted another glass of wine. But then he seemed really nervous, which was unusual and I asked him if he was drunk!”
Raf wasn’t drunk but he did have something very important on his mind.
“He came back into the room” says Louisa “and got down on his knee beside me. I thought he was just coming in for a cuddle so I hugged him and said ‘thank you’ for dinner. At that point, I noticed the ring he was holding and he asked me to marry him. I was really, really excited and said ‘yeah, of course I will’ - and then I cried for a minute!”
Louisa had failed to notice that, throughout the meal, Raf hadn’t been using his knife. He had been clutching onto the ring the whole time, waiting for the right moment to pop the question.
And afterwards? “I washed up!” says Louisa – but for once, doing the dishes didn’t seem like a chore.
