Legendary punk poet and Bard of Salford, John Cooper Clarke (left), will be performing his unique rapid-fire delivery of his poems alongside razor sharp gags and tales of the absurd or just hilarious.

The poet’s career has lasted more than 30 years and he first toured with Be-Bop Deluxe on their 1977 UK tour and has never looked back.

During the punk era he provided perfect show support for Buzzcocks, Joy Division, The Fall and many others. The Arctic Monkeys recently devoted a whole TV programme to their love of John Cooper Clarke, with many others citing him as a major influence, earning him the mantle of the ‘Punk Poet’.

In reality, his poems are a mixture of gritty northern realism mixed with an original humour that can not be emulated.

He will be joined by Polly Poison & Her Electric Antidote, a female fronted hard funk rock outfit from St Albans who reached the BBC Introducing Three Counties final and the Surface Unsigned semi-final.

Tickets start from £16.50 and can be booked online at www.alban-arena.co.uk or by calling the box office on 01727 844 488.
