Nadiya celebrates Bake Off victory

She has been consistent throughout the competition, won the support of Prime Minister David Cameron and tonight, Luton born baker Nadiya has been crowned Great British Bake Off 2015 champion.

For the first task, Tamal made cinnamon & apple and toffee and marmalade spiced buns while Ian made two doughs, Elderflower and Lemon and spiced buns with cinnamon and apple. A visibly nervous Nadiya went for two different shaped Cardamon buns flavoured with cherry and lemon.

Positive comments from the judges seemed to calm Nadiya’s nerves, which no doubt helped her as she returned to the tent for the last ever technical challenge in which the bakers had to create six raspberry mille-feuille in two hours.

Her nerves now less obvious, the Luton born baker come first in the final technical challenge which put her in a commanding position before the final challenge.

For the final showstopper, the contestants were challenged to make a single flavoured, multi tiered cake.

Tamil chose to make a sticky toffee pudding cake. Nadiya plumped for a triple big fat wedding lemon drizzle cake but Ian went for 5 carrot cakes in a cascading stand to present them on.

Nadiya’s cake was described as “spectacular” by an obviously delighted Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood was similarly impressed.

This proved enough to see off the competition as Nadiya was crowned Great British Bake Off 2015 champion. Well done Nadiya!
